Agarwood

Many have mistaken the name ‘agarwood’ as referring to a specific plant. Agarwood (aloeswood, eaglewood, gaharu, agalocha or oudh) actually refers to resinous fragrant heartwood formed on a specific plant as a result of fungus infection, disease or physical distress.

Aquilaria Malacensis is a plant commonly found in the South East Asia that produces agarwood. Pictures of the plant are shown below.
